We know that we can just hit the high points in this length of time, and we do want to do a couple of day trips also
Day 1 ( 1/2 day for sightseeing)
We will arrive from the US around 9:30am (overnight flight - Tired!)
- get the bags/customs/ and travel to our rental in the St Katherine's Docks area, will be able to get in the apt around 2 PM, so will probably just eat and hang out until then ;walk around the area.
Won't have much time this day - maybe try to visit London Eye or do a River Cruise?
Day 2 - Tower of London in the morning, London Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, end the day in Convent Garden area.
Day 3 - Train to Salisbury, Visit Stonehenge, lunch in Salisbury, then visit the Cathedral. ( any suggestions as to timing?, would need to buy train tickets and am not sure when to book return journey)
Do we have time to do anything else this day?
Day 4 - Buckingham Palace in the morning/Westminster Abbey in the afternoon - would we have time to visit Greenwich
Day 5 - Day trip - Train to Windsor Castle? OR Canterbury - any else this day?
Day 6 we leave for Scotland.
We will be relying on public transit/trains/feet for transport
We aren't interested in the big tour bus experience, would consider the "small group" tour maybe, if that would be a better option for the day trips.
Don't want to be crazy rushed, but also want to see as much as possible while we are there.
Any suggestions for evening things to do, as most attractions close by dark. We are a married, mid 50's couple - not interested in the club scene. I thought about a West End show, but I don't think hubs would be too interested, but I'll check out whats playing.
