The movie needs no introduction (we surely must have all seen it about a million times by now!) but did you know that 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of the real-life event?

The Great Escape is one of our best-loved war movies and tells the story of a group of Second World War POWs trying to break out of a top-security camp. It has a stellar line-up of stars including Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence and James Coburn.

Tonight you'll be able to watch the movie alongside a live performance of Elmer Bernstein's score by the BBC Concert Orchestra.
