Director: Neil Armfield; Written by: Kate Grenville, Andrew Bovell

Based on Kate Grenville’s acclaimed novel, The Secret River is an unflinching journey into Australia's dark past.

When William Thornhill arrives in Australia he's just a convict from the slums of London. But upon earning his pardon he realises that this new world is offering him something that he didn't dare dream of: a home. A place to call his own.

But as he lays claim to a piece of land and settles down to plant some crops he discovers that the land is not his to take — it belongs to the ancient Dharug people, and they don't want to give it up.
