TV historian Dan Snow will be hosting a special gala screening of the classic war movie The Great Escape, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the actual event.

The evening will feature The D-Day Darlings and some special guests.

The 1963 movie needs no introduction (we surely must have all seen it about a million times by now!), but in case you're too young to have seen it then it has a stellar line-up of stars including Steve McQueen, who famously tries to ride his Triumph TR6 motorcycle over a barbed wire fence to freedom. (And that bike will be one of the special guests!)

Dan Snow will explore the history behind the real-life operation by interviewing some Second World War veterans, and Britain's Got Talent finalists, The D-Day Darlings, will be there to perform some wartime classics like The White Cliffs of Dover and Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree, plus a specially created arrangement of the movie's iconic theme tune.
