Director: Mary Birnbaum; Conductor: Avi Stein; Composer: Henry Purcell

Juilliard and singers from the Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts will be giving a semi-staged performance of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas at the Opera Holland Park as part of their European Tour.

Dido and Aeneas tells the story of the Queen of Carthage and Prince of Troy, and is most famous for Dido's lament, "When I am laid in earth".

Note: The Holland Park Theatre is basically just a big white canopy in the middle of Holland Park, using Holland House as its backdrop. Be aware that some of the sides are open to the air (with the canopy acting as a roof), so you might want to wrap-up warm. There are some picnic areas and refreshment areas dotted around the site which you can use during the interval and before it starts.
