Director: Il Segreto di Susanna: John Wilkie; Iolanta: Olivia Fuchs; Conductor: Il Segreto di Susanna: John Andrews; Iolanta: Sian Edwards; Cast: (the cast may change on different dates) Il Segreto di Susanna: Clare Presland, Richard Burkhard, John Savournin; Iolanta: Natalya Romaniw, David Butt Philip, Mikhail Svetlov, Grant Doyle, Ashley Riches, Charne Rochford, Barnaby Rea, Laura Woods, Julia Hamon, Helen Brackenbury; Composer: Il Segreto di Susanna: Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari; Iolanta: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Opera Holland Park will be putting on a double-bill of two one-act operas: Wolf-Ferrari's Il Segreto di Susanna and Tchaikovsky's Iolanta.

Wolf-Ferrari's effort is a farce of marital mistrust and modern manners where newly-weds Gil and Susanna discover just how much (or how little) they really know about each other.

Tchaikovsky's Iolanta is a dark and beautiful romance about isolation and enchantment, where its blind heroine is redeemed through the love of the only man in the world to tell her the truth.

Note: The Holland Park Theatre is basically just a big white canopy in the middle of Holland Park, using Holland House as its backdrop. Be aware that some of the sides are open to the air (with the canopy acting as a roof), so you might want to wrap-up warm. There are some picnic areas and refreshment areas dotted around the site which you can use during the interval and before it starts.
