Harry Bicket will be directing the English Concert and the Clarion Choir at Barbican Hall, with vocalists Brenda Rae, Elizabeth De Shong and Ailish Tynan.
They will be performing Handel's story of the princess Semele, who loves someone a bit out of her league: none other than the King of the Gods himself!
Jupiter takes Semele as his mistress but then his jealous wife Juno discovers the relationship, and swears vengeance on her. She begins to plot Semele’s downfall with the help of Somnus, the god of sleep, but then Jupiter transforms into a blazing cloud of thunder and lightning...
