Sir Antonio Pappano will be conducting the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia at Barbican Hall in a performance of Mahler's Symphony No.6.

The symphonic drama tells the story of a hero felled by three hammer blows of fate, which eerily foreshadowed Mahler's own early death.
