Sir Mark Elder will be conducting the Britten Sinfonia and Opera Rara Chorus at Barbican Hall, with Russian coloratura soprano Albina Shagimuratova.
They will be giving a concert performance of Donizetti's Il Paria.
Sir Mark Elder is the Music Director of Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra. He has also worked with the London Philharmonic Choir, English National Opera (ENO), BBC Symphony Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
The Britten Sinfonia is one of the country’s finest chamber orchestras. It is based at Cambridge and has regular seasons at the Southbank Centre and Wigmore Hall. The orchestra does not have a Principal Conductor, but chooses instead to work with a selection of guest musicians.
