Windsor Castle is No.1 in our list of best day trips from London

Buckingham Palace might be her official residence, but the Queen has long considered Windsor Castle to be her actual home. It's the oldest inhabited castle in the world and the Royal Family have been living there for nearly 1,000 years.

This Exclusive Evening Tour will allow to appreciate its splendour a lot better, away from the thousands of tourists that flood the grounds during the day. Your expert guide will even give you a 'behind-the-ropes' experience in the State Apartments.

The tour will also include entry to the special exhibition that is currently running inside the castle: A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which displays the wedding outfits that Harry and Meghan wore to their wedding.

At the end of the tour you can enjoy a glass of champagne (or a soft drink), and receive a copy of the official guidebook and 20% off any items you buy in the shop.

Windsor is one of Craig's favourite days trips and he definitely recommends a visit. You might like to read his review of Windsor Castle on his blog to see what's it's like. You might also like the Exclusive Evening Tour of Buckingham Palace.

> Craig’s review of this event – “Windsor Castle is a bit of a trek from London. If you're travelling from Waterloo then you're looking at the best part of an hour on the train. I don't normally go that far out, but it's Windsor isn't it. I've come to pay homage to our leader — the Queen. Let's hope she's home or it will have been a wasted journey. This is actually my very first visit to the castle.… continued”
