Director: Polly Findlay; Written by: William Shakespeare; Cast: Christopher Eccleston, Niamh Cusack, Edward Bennett

Polly Findlay's contemporary re-telling of Shakespeare's most brutal and poetic play tells the story of how Macbeth is driven to murder and madness by his scheming wife and three wicked witches on the heath.

When the old witches prophecise that he will be become king, he and Lady Macbeth set off on a journey of power, paranoia, betrayal... and murder. But just as Macbeth seizes the throne and achieves his dream of power, the demons from his past rise up and haunt him.

Will he be able to cling to the defiled crown, or will he fall prey to a soul-corroding guilt?
