The newly re-opened National Army Museum will be exploring why artists and soldiers have always painted scenes of conflict.

Whether their reason was to create a lasting record, report the news back home, or commemorate an important event, many war paintings end up as their personal perspective on the fighting, revealing their own motivations and agendas, and recording the huge impact it made on the people in the region.

War Paint features over 130 paintings and objects by professional artists and everyday soldiers.
