Billy Bragg is one of Britain's most outspoken musicians, constantly banging the drum for the left and having a pop at Margaret Thatcher. (He does know that she left office nearly thirty years ago, doesn't he?)
If he was around in the 1960s then he probably would have wanted to be Bob Dylan. If he was around in the 1970s then he probably would have wanted to be a punk, but he got lumbered with the 1980s instead, which meant he ended up singing protest songs about the Tories.
Billy Bragg’s last appearances in London were at Queen Elizabeth Hall and Union Chapel.
