Song Of The Earth La Sylphide

The London Coliseum will be putting on a double-bill of Song of the Earth and La Sylphide.

Kenneth MacMillan's Song of the Earth was inspired by Mahler's haunting Das Lied von der Erde, and perfectly captures the fragility of life and its constant renewal. The three figures of a man, a woman, and a messenger, explore everything from love and loss, to their own mortality.

La Sylphide tells the story of James, who awakens on his wedding day to see the mysterious and tantalising Sylphide before him. His obsession with her then sets off a sequence of events where joy turns to sorrow, love to betrayal, and infatuation to tragedy.
