Sir Mark Elder will be conducting the Britten Sinfonia at Barbican Hall, alongside the mezzo-soprano Elisabeth Kuhlman.

They will be performing some classical works by Finzi, Mahler and Brahms.

Finzi -- The Fall of the Leaf
Mahler -- What the Wild Flowers tell me, Ruckert-Lieder
Brahms -- Symphony No 1

Sir Mark Elder is the music director of Manchester’s famous Hallé Orchestra. The British conductor has also held important roles with the English National Opera (ENO), BBC Symphony Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The Britten Sinfonia is one of the country’s finest chamber orchestras. It is based mainly at Cambridge, but has regular seasons at the Southbank Centre and Wigmore Hall. The orchestra does not have a principal conductor, but chooses instead to work with a selection of guest musicians.
