Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra will be performing Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra and the Genesis Suite by Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Milhaud (et al).
Sir Simon Rattle originally rose to fame with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, before beating Daniel Barenboim for the post of principal conductor at the Berlin Philharmonic. He is also a regular guest conductor for both the Vienna Philharmonic and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is the resident orchestra of the Barbican Centre, and has been in operation since 1904 – London’s oldest surviving orchestra.
