Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra will be performing two works by Leonard Bernstein: Symphony No 2 (The Age Of Anxiety), and Wonderful Town.

They will be accompanied by pianist Krystian Zimerman, Danielle de Niese, Nathan Gunn and Duncan Rock.

Sir Simon Rattle originally rose to fame with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, before beating Daniel Barenboim for the post of principal conductor at the Berlin Philharmonic. He is also a regular guest conductor for both the Vienna Philharmonic and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is the resident orchestra of the Barbican Centre, and has been in operation since 1904 – London’s oldest surviving orchestra.
