Mayerling

Composer -- Liszt

Arguably Kenneth MacMillan's greatest masterpiece, "Mayerling", tells the true story of a suicide pact between the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and his teenage mistress, after the Crown Prince is forced to marry Princess Stephanie against his will.

Using the music of Franz Liszt and MacMillan's electrifying choreography, it conjures up the oppressive society of the Austro-Hungarian court in the late 19th-century in a devastating tale of extreme passions and desperate acts.
