Verdi’s “Aida”, performed ‘in the round’

to Royal Albert Hall This spectacular version of Verdi's "Aida" will be performed 'in the round' amongst the ruins of Ancient Egypt. The epic work explores the tragic love triangle between the Ethiopian slave girl Aida, the King's daughter Amneris, and the Captain of the Guard.
Master Class at Vaudeville Theatre, London

Tyne Daly in “Master Class” — about Maria Callas

to Vaudeville Theatre "Master Class" tells the story of iconic opera singer Maria Callas. Tyne Daley (of "Cagney and Lacey" fame) takes the role of the legendary diva, whose turbulent love life and fiery temperament led to much self-sacrifice and heartache.

Titian’s “Diana and Callisto”3 MarchThis special exhibition celebrates the National Gallery’s acquisition of Titian’s “Diana and Callisto”. Its companion painting “Diana and Actaeon” was purchased in 2009, and the pair have now been reunited in Room 1. “Diana and Callisto” shows the moment when Diana banishes Callisto after revealing her pregnancy.

“She Stoops to Conquer”, at the National Theatre3 March“She Stoops To Conquer” tells the story of Hardcastle, who’s trying to introduce his eligable daughter to his old friend’s son. But his son is crippled with shyness when it comes to wooing the upper classes, and he is tricked into thinking his prospective father-in-law is an old innkeeper, and his daughter is a barmaid.

Gesamtkunstwerk: New art from Germany3 MarchThe Saatchi Gallery is hosting an exhibition of new art from Germany called “Gesamtkunstwerk”. It will include pieces by Dirk Bell, Matti Braun, Andre Butzer, Max Frisinger, Thomas Helbig, Volker Hueller, Thomas Kiesewetter, Josephine Meckseper, Kirstine Roepstorff, Julian Rosefeldt, Markus Selg and Thomas Zipp.

Guided tour of Somerset House3 MarchThis 45-minute tour of Somerset House will take in Tudor intrigues and the “King’s Shilling”, and the extravagant entertainments of the Georgian Enlightenment. As you explore the graceful staircases and atmospheric Deadhouse, you will get to see some scientific curiosities and learn more about British naval power.

“Midnight Tango”, at the Aldwych Theatre3 March“Midnight Tango” was created by Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace — the same people who have been dazzling us with their sensual tango routines on TV’s “Strictly Come Dancing”. The show is set in downtown Buenos Aires and will take you on a journey through this intoxicating city.

Yayoi Kusama exhibition3 MarchYayoi Kusama is probably best-known for her repeating dot patterns. Since 1977 this intriguing artist has spent much of her life living in a psychiatric institution, and her work has been touched by obsession and a desire to escape from psychological trauma.

Captain Scott’s Antartic Expedition3 MarchCaptain Robert Scott’s expedition to Antarctica in 1910-1913 was one of the most famous expedition’s of all-time. This extraordinary exhibition commemorates the centenary by collecting together artefacts used by his team, alongside a life-size representation of Scott’s base-camp, which still survives in Antarctica.

“Travelling Light”, at the National Theatre3 MarchWhen Motl Mendl first sees the silent images on his dad’s cinematograph, he is entranced. With encouragement from his friend Anna, Motl leaves his little village and ends up as a famed film director. “Travelling Light” is a study of the Eastern European immigrants who rose to became major players in Hollywood’s golden age.
