Verdi’s “Aida”, performed ‘in the round’

to Royal Albert Hall This spectacular version of Verdi's "Aida" will be performed 'in the round' amongst the ruins of Ancient Egypt. The epic work explores the tragic love triangle between the Ethiopian slave girl Aida, the King's daughter Amneris, and the Captain of the Guard.

Richard Strauss: “Der Rosenkavalier”

London Coliseum Richard Strauss's Viennese comedy "Der Rosenkavalier" tells the tale of Octavian, who quickly loses his heart to Sophie when asked to deliver a rose on behalf of the elderly Baron Ochs.

Mondrian || Nicholson: In Parallel27 FebruaryThe Courtauld Gallery is putting on a special exhibition which follows the friendship that developed between Piet Mondrian and Ben Nicholson — two of the leading forces of abstract art. Using major paintings and reliefs by both artists, its explores the parallel paths that Mondrian and Nicholson charted during the 1930s in their Hampstead studios.

“She Stoops to Conquer”, at the National Theatre27 February“She Stoops To Conquer” tells the story of Hardcastle, who’s trying to introduce his eligable daughter to his old friend’s son. But his son is crippled with shyness when it comes to wooing the upper classes, and he is tricked into thinking his prospective father-in-law is an old innkeeper, and his daughter is a barmaid.

David Shrigley: Brain Activity27 FebruaryDavid Shrigley is best known for his witty and wry observations on everyday life. He uses a deliberately crude graphic style alongside an insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships. This exhibition will be his first major show in London.

Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics27 FebruaryThis explosive exhibition features some of the best covers and illustrations from 50 years of the “Commando” comic series. “Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics” will explore the history of the comic from its very first issue, through to its heroic subject matter and its enduring popularity.

Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” — starring Lenny Henry27 FebruaryIn this version of William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors”, the staging will be moved to a contemporary setting. In this witty merry-go-round of mistaken identity, much mayhem ensues when two sets of estranged twins find themselves wandering through the streets of the same town.

Changing the Guard, at Buckingham Palace27 FebruaryStrolling down The Mall to Buckingham Palace and watching the “Changing of the Guard” is one of the must-do events in everyone’s itinerary. The new set of guards arrive on the forecourt accompanied by a military band, which they take part in a ceremonial handing over of the keys.

Captain Scott’s Antartic Expedition27 FebruaryCaptain Robert Scott’s expedition to Antarctica in 1910-1913 was one of the most famous expedition’s of all-time. This extraordinary exhibition commemorates the centenary by collecting together artefacts used by his team, alongside a life-size representation of Scott’s base-camp, which still survives in Antarctica.

Yayoi Kusama exhibition27 FebruaryYayoi Kusama is probably best-known for her repeating dot patterns. Since 1977 this intriguing artist has spent much of her life living in a psychiatric institution, and her work has been touched by obsession and a desire to escape from psychological trauma.
