Events in London - Thursday 17th October

Starts today – Pre-Raphaelite Sisters

This major new exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery will tell the untold story of the women in Pre-Raphaelite art. It's been 160 years since the first pictures were exhibited by the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, but this will be the very first exhibition to explore the overlooked contribution of twelve of its women, including Evelyn de Morgan, Effie Millai... more

Need some inspiration for 17th October? The world was introduced to moving pictures on this day in 1894, when the Kinetoscope Parlour showed a series of dances, bar scenes, blacksmiths and barbers on an Edison Kinetoscope. You can see how far the movies have come by watching a 3D movie at the BFI IMAX.
