Stained-glass window in St. Etheldreda’s church St. Etheldreda’s church

St. Etheldreda’s church dates from the late 13th-century and was the private chapel of William de Luda, Bishop of Ely.

It has strong memories of the Catholic persecution, and the stained-glass windows commemorate the martyrs put to death at Tyburn for refusing to renounce their faith. In 1876 the church became the first to revert back to Catholicism after Henry VIII’s Reformation.
