I am doing a charity bike ride in Windsor in May and need to find the best way to get to / from Windsor with a bicycle on public transport. I believe that you can only take folding bikes on the underground and a lot of buses don't allow bikes - does anyone know the best way I can make this journey with the least amount of hassle / stress? I don't want to cycle it as its around 24 miles and I need to save my legs for charity ride!

i'm pretty sure that the company running trains between Kings Cross and Windsor is First Great Western. you can read their cycle policy here: firstgreatwestern.co.uk/About-Us/Custom ... ing-policy It looks like you have to reserve a space on some of their services, but it depends which train you get.
Travelling on the London underground is a different story (kings cross to windsor is not on the london underground though -- that is national rail). if you are getting a tube to kings cross then check out this map: tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/bic ... be-map.pdf This map shows you which routes you can carry a bicycle on. check the little box at the bottom as well, because its got the hours you carry a bike on. if you're travelling at the weekend then you might be alright
