Boris's new cycle hire scheme

i saw those new bicycles that boris johnson has introduced today. those little hire ones that you can pick up in the street and deposit somewhere else.
i thought it was a decent idea when he first brought it up, but then i saw he much he is charging for them. it was way too expensive! £6 quid for 2 hours is too much, you may as well just get the bus becasue its cheaper. and if someone steals it, which wouldnt be your fault, you've got to give them 300 pound! no thanks.

if i decided to ride one to work, i could park it quite nearby. but i asked what would happen if all the bays were full, and they said you have to tap something into the machine and it would give you an extra 15 minutes for free to find a free bay somewhere else. but that is not much use to me because then i would have to cycle away from my workplace again, and walk back. so not only would i be late for work i would also have to do some walking as well, which ruins the whole point of hiring the bicycle!

one of my friends says they weigh a tonne as well, you need thigh muscles like rambo to get it going. he said it was like towing a caravan on a bicycle. and you dont get five gears, which makes it even more knackering. but its good exercise though.

how do they stop people nicking them, because thats whats going to happen in the end. i remember up north i used to go this supermarket and they had trolleys which locked when you wheeled them out the car park. i could never work out how it worked. it was like there was an invisible barrier 200 feet from the shop and when you wheeled past it all the ways locked up. that is what they need to do something like that, so if you dont put any money in the wheels lock up.

nobody is going to nick them because they are rubbish. they weigh more than a car and have got 1 gear and have a top speed of 1 mph.

i think they made them rubbish on purpose so nobody would steal them. but that means nobody wants to ride them either.

theyre cheaper than getting a taxi, but its only good if theres a bike rack at the place you want to cycle too, and you dont know that until you get there. its like getting a taxi and then finding theres nowhere to park, so he has to drive around until he finds a space half a mile away.

what they should do is build more spaces than bikes. so for every twenty bikes they place, they should so twenty five places. then you wont have to run around trying to find an empty space all the time

i remember once they tried a scheme with books on tube trains. They would just leave them on the seats and anyone could pick them up and take them home to read, but then when they had finished they had to place them somewhere else where peopl could just pick it up again, like on the bus. i wonder what happened to that scheme. i would be goog if they could do that with bicycles. because then you could just ride it to where you want to go and just leave it for someone else
