As long as you are logged in you don't have to worry about saving it -- it just writes everything to your profile automatically, every time you add or remove something

Sorry but I don't agree. I downloaded a standard tour, set up an account, customised the route by adding extra locations, spending about an hour doing that and putting it into the order I wanted it in. Then, because I couldn't see a way of saving it I posted it. When I tried going back to my route I it defaulted to the standard route before I customised it. When I look at the route I posted the locations are there, but all of the really useful stuff about tube stations and bus routes is not neatly summarised (e.g. the way it was when I customised the standard route. The neat summary would mean I could print it and be able to pull it out of my pocket to check the next tube/bus I am aiming for. I could put it all in again, but unless I know how to save it there is a risk I end up in the same position
hmm... that's a puzzle. here's the only thing i can think of... is this a possibility? (we'd like to work out what happened and fix it, if there's a problem)
the first time you did it you were logged in, so it saved everything onto your johnobrien67 profile (and it also left a cookie of the route on your machine, as is normal).
the next time you came back you weren't logged in, but you didn't realise this because the route would still have been showing due to the cookie on your machine. so you carried adding some more things on. but because you weren't logged in as johnobrien67, it didn't save the new stuff onto your profile (there would have been a pink box at the top of the itinerary saying "This itinerary will disappear if you clear the cookies in your browser. For a permanent version, you either need to register as a member, or bookmark the following URL")
after you spent some time adding all of your new stuff on you logged in as johnobrien67 again, at which point it loaded up what was saved on your profile -- the original one without all the added stuff. so it would seem like it had reverted back to the old version.
sorry for the hassle you've had in saving things and then losing it... i know how annoying that can be when my computer freezes after i've sat there for half and hour writing something. if we can work out what happened then we can get it fixed quick

Thanks for your help. The site is a great idea, as an infrequent visitor to London, setting an ittinery in the right order with simple prompts for tube stations and bus routes would make life a lot easier. I still think that really simple buttons for log in and save would be invaluable.
i think you're right... so we've changed the text at the top of the itinerary page to make it clearer to people when they are not logged in, and also provided a link to take them straight to the log in page. thanks for pointing that out to us
do you want some feedback on your itinerary, by the way? if you've got any questions, or want some ideas about other things to do then we are happy to give some
