>Day in London 21st Dec to include Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
27 Oct 14, 16:10
Hi, I am coming to London via Harry Potter Studios on the 20th December, with my husband, 9 year old son and oap mother-in-law. Our current plan is to head into the centre on the 21st. We are staying over night near Park Royal tube station on both the 20th and 21st so have all day on the Sunday to explore. We have been as a couple many times before and as a family once - but only ever in the summer! I imagine this will be our last 'magical' Christmas as the boy is already asking the odd question about Santa . Any suggestions of things to do that suit the time of year? I am going to get tickets for the Ice Castle and the Big Wheel at the Winter Wonderland but haven't decided on times -so suggestions for best times to do everything would be great too! I'd imagine a trip to Hamleys is a must but guess it will be VERY busy. Any tips etc gratefully appreciated
The open-air ice rink outside Somerset House is worth a visit. It looks very Christmassy with the tree, and it will be something you can do with your kid. and your mother-in-law can sit in the nice cafe overlooking it with her cup of tea (im guessing she won't want to do the ice skating — neither would I!) — http://www.londondrum.com/events/?p=27912 Alternatively, if you are going to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, then the Natural History Museum is not too far away (just a walk across the park), and they have an open-air ice rink too — http://www.londondrum.com/events/?p=27914
Thanks - after posting the question I found the link for the Christmas events. I have also spotted the trip planner. It has helped loads with figuring out where to start etc. For all my mother in law is a very active 74 I think she'll agree with the cuppa rather than the skating - I think I'll join her a hubby can go on the ice!
