The Comedy Store started out as a venue for alternative comedy in the 1980s, and has helped to launch the careers of some of Britain’s best comics. The club is surprisingly small inside, but attracts some of the biggest names in the business. It also has a great American-style diner and bar.

Ive been here loads of times. i usually go at the weekend when they do comedy improv. it's a bit like the old TV show "whose Line Is It Anyway". i think they've even got the same piano player. and paul merton and josie lawrence are on it quite a lot, so the quality is pretty high. The thing i like about it is that you can sit down with a drink and enjoy yourself. The comedy is never nasty, and although they do interact with the audience it's never in a horrible way. But if you dont like that kind of thing you can always sit towards the back. Sometimes the audience reactions and suggestions are what makes you laugh the hardest.

the thing about the comedy store is that the stage is right on top of the audience, at the same level as them almost, so the comedian has got nowhere to go if he's rubbish. people can heckle him from the back because it's pretty dark back there and goes way back so they can say stuff with impunity. people at the front have no such luck, and i've seen a few people picked on mercilessly which is alwys hilarious (as long as its not you getting picked on!). so dont sit at the front. and if you take my advice you will only go on a night when you recognise the names of the comedians. because i've been on some nights where i didn't know the people and they turned out to be right stinkers

By far one of the best nights I've ever had out in London. It was a surprise night out from a friend and I throughly enjoyed myself. There was a mix of comedians, ones I knew about and didn't. Three acts in total excluding the very funny host, who primarily engaged the audience for his jokes.Definitely planning to go back, I can now understand why it was packed out.

If you get the chance, a definite must see :)
