About this blog
I’m going to try and visit every attraction in London (even the rubbish ones), and every big event like 'Trooping the Colour' as well. But it will probably take me about ten years to complete because I’m too lazy to get out of bed most days, so I hope you stick around until the end.

ImageI was never a big fan of Princess Di, but this is taking the mick. The Princess Di Memorial Fountain has got to be the worst memorial in the whole wide world. It's basically just a big concrete river on a boring bit of grass, two minutes walk from the cafe toilets.
It's fenced off all the way around apart from a little gate at the front, and if it wasn't for a picture of her face on the poster you wouldn't even know what it was. You'd just think it was something they'd put up for the kids.

Let me explain exactly what it is... so you can fully appreciate how rubbish it is. It's a big ring of industrial grey concrete, with lots of little lumps, bumps and undulations in it. It's not marble or anything like that. It looks like the same kind of concrete that they used to build the Westway Flyover on the Edgware Road. The water is pumped out from the top and bubbles and gurgles its way down to the end, and people are supposed to sit on the side and paddle their feet and think of the Princess... hopefully without slipping over and cracking their nut.

I think they should scrap the whole thing and build a fountain in the middle of the Round Pond instead. At least that will actually have something to do with her, because it will look back towards Kensington Palace -- where she lived.
