Director: Claire van Kampen; Written by: William Shakespeare; Cast: (the cast may change on different dates) Andre Holland, Mark Rylance
The Globe's production of Othello will include one very special performance at midnight. Given that it's an open-air theatre, the sight of the stars shining above the stage promises to make it a very memorable experience.
Othello's paranoia is making him think badly of his beloved wife Desdemona, but when the dastardly Iago starts scheming behind his back his suspicions grow even more. It's not long before Othello is convinced that Desdemona is having an affair with Iago's rival, Cassio.
As Othello's world begins to disintegrate around him he turns on the only person in the world who actually wants to help him: his wife.
The Globes Theatre's season runs from April to October. Craig has been to see a play himself and thoroughly recommends it. It's not like any other theatre that you have been to. It's open-air for a start, and it has a standing area in the middle. The actors actually use this area for some of the scenes, and involve the crowd as if they are part of the cast. Check out Craig's review before you go, so you can get a feeling for what it's like inside.
