The Winter's Tale is a story of love, loss and reconciliation, and is full of wild and uncontrollable emotions: rage, grief and forgiveness.
When King Leontes grows suspicious that his pregnant wife has had an affair with his childhood friend, he orders that her baby be abandoned. The baby is then found by a shepherd and Perdita grows up to become a lost princess.
In later life King Leontes comes to lament his decision and stands before a statue of his dead queen, praying for redemption. But will there be and a family reunion?
The Globes Theatre's season runs from April to October. Craig has been to see a play himself and thoroughly recommends it. It's not like any other theatre that you have been to. It's open-air for a start, and it has a standing area in the middle. The actors actually use this area for some of the scenes, and involve the crowd as if they are part of the cast. Check out Craig's review before you go, so you can get a feeling for what it's like inside.
