Roy Ayers -- The Godfather of Neo-Soul -- was around at the birth of acid jazz and jazz funk in the 1960s. The 70s and 80s saw him turn into an R&B band leader, and now DJs and hip-hoppers are busy sampling his music again, giving his career a second wind.

He's best known for his big hits in the 70s including Everybody Loves the Sunshine, Searchin and Freaky Deaky.
