Jack And The Beanstalk

The Shaw Theatre has plumped for Jack and the Beanstalk as their Christmas panto this year.

When Jack agrees to swap his beloved cow Daisy for a handful of magic beans his mum isn't very happy, but luckily for him they turn out to the real deal, and pretty soon they have a giant beanstalk in their garden which is growing up and up into the clouds.

Naturally he decides to climb it, until eventually he comes across... I don't want to spoil the surprise. So all I will say is this: Fi-Fi-Fo-Fum!

If you don't know what a pantomime is then it's basically a family-friendly show with lots of songs, lots of corny jokes and some terrible ham acting. It's all played for laughs, so expect lots of silliness and a few baddies to boo at. And they always seem to have a lady playing the part of man as well (don't ask me why -- they just do!). It's the kind of show that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The cast will include Dani Harmer from CBBC's Tracy Beaker and Strictly Come Dancing.
