Director -- Polly Findlay
Written by -- Ben Johnson

"The Alchemist" was written by one of Shakespeare's finest contemporaries, Ben Jonson, and it's a savage satire that reveals just how vain we humans can be.

It tells the story of a guy called Lovewit, who flees to the country when London is hit by the plague, leaving his townhouse in the hands of his trusted butler Jeremy. But when the cat's away... Jeremy quickly turns the house into a den of criminal activity and attempts to rip off half the city.

Things could not be going better for him... until he receives a very unwelcome visitor.
