Director -- Maria Aberg
Written by -- Christopher Marlowe
Cast -- (the cast may change on different dates) Sandy Grierson, Oliver Ryan

"Doctor Faustus" is a 400-year old play that was originally written by Christopher Marlowe.

It tells the story of a doctor making a pact with the devil. In return for the ability to do anything he likes through the power of black magic, he agrees to sell his soul to Satan. His new found powers soon catapult him into the intoxicating world of celebrity... but what is the price he'll pay for wealth and fame?

The Barbican's new update begins with an intriguing idea: both actors step onto the stage and light a match. Whoever's goes out first 'loses' and proceeds to play the fated doctor, while the other actor plays the demon Mephistophilis. Each night could be different, and nobody knows who's going to be playing who!
