I don't know about you, but when I've got a night off, there's nothing I like better than taking off my socks and shoes and setting fire to my feet by walking on a burning hot bed of coals. So when I saw this 'Fire Walk' taking place at London Zoo I just had to sign up!
Obviously I lied. I'm not mad. And anyone who walks barefoot over a bed of red hot embers smouldering at over 1200°F is clearly a bit doolally. But if you do it right then you won't feel a thing (that is what my friend said, when I was visiting him in hospital). It's just a question of mind over matter, you see. Our brain is a wonderful thing, and it can seemingly do the impossible as long as we believe! You just need to have faith (and run very fast).
And it's all in a good cause... the money raised will help ZSL pay for animal conversation.

The zookeeper is walking around brushing all the leaves off the floor and the giraffes are dropping about a million more. He's a funny looking fella (the giraffe I mean, not the zookeeper). He's got two bony tufts coming out the top of his head and a neck that's longer than his… continued”
