The smash-hit Broadway musical which shot Barbra Streisand to stardom is being revived in the West End with Sheridan Smith in the lead role.

Smith took a bit of time out recently ("personal reasons") but she seems to have recovered now. So cross your fingers that she'll be on stage -- because she really is worth seeing.

"Funny Girl" tells the story of a girl who rose from the Lower East Side of New York to become one of Broadway's biggest stars... but whilst she was being hailed onstage as a great comedienne, off-stage she was struggling with a tempestuous and doomed relationship with the man she loved.

The score is often hailed as one of the best in musical theatre, with classic tracks like "People", "You Are Woman, I Am Man" and "Don't Rain on My Parade".
