Read The London Craig blog> Craig has been here before. Read his review of watching a play at the Globe Theatre and also the Globe Theatre tour

Director -- Jonathan Munby
Written by -- William Shakespeare
Cast -- Stefan Adegbola, Chris Logan, Brian Martin, Rachel Pickup, Jonathan Pryce, Phoebe Pryce

Jonathan Pryce is back at the Globe and starring in "The Merchant of Venice", which contains some of the most intense scenes in Shakespeare's entire canon.

It tells the story of a wealthy heiress Portia, who is forced to set her suitors a challenge: win, and they will win her hand in marriage; but lose, and they will lose much more than a hand!

Bassanio manages to borrow some money from his friend to finance his attempt, but Antonio is forced to take out a loan from the most famous moneylender in theatre -- Shylock. If he cannot repay the money then Shylock wants a pound of his flesh instead.

I'll give you three guesses what happens next...

The Globes Theatre's season runs from April to October. Craig has been to see a play himself and thoroughly recommends it. It's not like any other theatre that you have been to. It's open-air for a start, and it has a standing area in the middle. The actors actually use this area for some of the scenes, and involve the crowd as if they are part of the cast. Check out Craig's review before you go, so you can get a feeling for what it's like inside.
