Bizet's "Carmen" is one of the world's favourite operas, but scandalised 19th-century society with its raw depicition of lust. It tells the story of a fiesty gypsy arrested for attacking a fellow worker. After persuading her guard to release her on the promise of love, she then casts him aside for the glamorous toreador, Escamillo. Consumed by jealousy, Don Jose pursues Carmen to Seville with tragic consequences.

This spectacular in-the-round production at the Royal Albert Hall offers Bizet's rich and timeless score the perfect setting to showcase some of opera's finest arias.

The terracota-coloured Royal Albert Hall is one of London’s favourite concert venues. Whilst it remains most famous for classical music and the annual Prom concerts, it also holds rock and pop concerts, sports events and award ceremonies.
