When Titus becomes the Emperor of Rome, Berenice's long and patient wait is over and she can finally become his queen. But when the people of Rome make their disapproval of her clear, Titus must choose between love and responsibility.

When Titus' best friend Antiochus is sent to comfort her, and reveals his own unrequited love, it sets the scene for a perfect tragedy.
