Galactia has been commissioned to paint a scene celebrating the triumphant Battle of Lepanto, but turns in a heartbreaking scene of war-torn carnage -- alienating the authorities. Her young lover Carpeta is then approached and takes over the commission for himself.

Set in 16th-century Venice, "Scenes from an Execution" is a fearless exploration of sexual politics and the tension between personal ambition and moral responsibility.

The Lyttelton Theatre is part of the National Theatre complex (consisting of the Lyttelton, Cottesloe and Oliver Theatre). It seats around under 900 people on two different levels, and with no pillars or walls to block your eyeline, there really is not a bad seat in the house.

Whilst his admiring circle spar over culture and the cosmos, only Liza feels the peoples’ suffering and senses their own privileged world is in jeopardy.
