Timon of Athens is a patron of the arts, ostentatious host, and friend to the rich and powerful, showering money and hospitality on the city's elite. As his coffers run dry, he reassures his loyal steward that all will be well. But when he calls upon his erstwhile friends to help him out, instead of offering money, they hang him out to dry... leading to a final, vengeful banquet.
