Heritage routes: Ride an old-style double-decker bus – Every day
The traditional old-style red double-decker bus (with a conductor and an open platform at the back) was a much-loved part of London’s furniture, so when they were phased out in 2005 for the new-style bendy buses, lots of people were aghast. Luckily, the Mayor decided to keep a few of the old buses running on two “heritage routes”.
Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree – 5th December 2013 to 5th January 2014
Get yourself down to Trafalgar Square and marvel at London’s most famous Christmas Tree. The square has been adorned with this fine fir for more than sixty-five years — as a thankyou from the good people of Norway for our help during World War II. The tree remains rigidly traditional, a true evergreen fir decorated with simple white lights.
Christmas carols, around the Trafalgar Square tree – 9th to 22nd December 2013 (except the 14th)
Where better to enjoy some carols than around the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree? Every night, between five and nine, a choir will entertain late shoppers and weary workers travelling home with a round of Christmas carols, under the lights of the giant fir.
