The Globe Theatre will be putting on a production of Shakespeare's outrageous comedy "The Taming of the Shrew".

The play follows two wealthy sisters as they search for a husband. Bianca is modest and kind, and has no trouble attracting a string of enviable suitors, but Katherina is wild and shrewish and the only man who wants to know is the gold-digging Petruchio. Will he be able to bully her to the altar?

"The Taming of the Shrew" is one of theatre's great screwball comedies, featuring a couple hell-bent on outwitting each other right up to the play's controversial end.

The Globe Theatre is a perfect reconstruction of an Elizabethan playhouse that originally stood in Shakespeare’s day, and features wooden seats in balconies, and a stage that is open to the weather.
