For the London Olympics weightlifters will be divided into 15 different categories -- eight weights for men and seven for the women. The strongest competitors can lift as much as three-times their body weight.
There are two types of lift. If the weightlifter attemps a "snatch", then the bar is lifted from the floor to above their head in one go, whilst in a "clean and jerk" the bar is first brought up to shoulder-level before being lifted over the head.

29th July -- Men's 56kg; Women's 53kg
30th July -- Men's 62kg; Women's 58kg
31st July -- Men's 69kg; Women's 63kg
1st Aug -- Men's 77kg; Women's 69kg
3rd Aug -- Men's 85kg; Women's 75kg
4th Aug -- Men's 94kg
5th Aug -- Women's 75+kg
6th Aug -- Men's 105kg
7th Aug -- Men's 105+kg
