Basketball is played by two teams of five players. Two points are scored for each basket, with three points for a long shot. The competition will be made up of 12 teams divided into two groups of six. Each team will play every other team in their group. The best eight teams will then qualify for the knockout stage.

The preliminary rounds and the women's quarter finals will be held at the Basketball Arena. After that the competition transfers to the O2 Arena (renamed the 'North Greenwich Arena' for the duration of the Games).

10th Aug -- Men's semi-finals
11th Aug -- Women's 3rd-place play off, final and medal ceremony
12th Aug -- Men's 3rd-place play off, final and medal ceremony
