"Gotterdammerung" is part of Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" -- a four opera cycle which the Royal Opera House will be staging in full during September/October 2012.
Woton is a morally compromised god, and ensnares himself in a series of crimes from which he is unable to escape. A young hero and a defiant valkyrie manage to restore the world order, but at what cost?
Visually spectacular and emotionally overwhelming, the full Ring cycle is as intense as opera gets. Wild forces of nature rage around the stage, and the gods, giants, dragons and dwarfs of ancient myths provide the characters.
The Royal Opera House is one of the world’s great opera houses. The Grade I listed building seats 2,256 people and has four tiers of boxes and balconies. It is home to two of Britain’s foremost classical companies – the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera.
