Changing the Guard, at Buckingham Palace

to Buckingham Palace Strolling down The Mall to Buckingham Palace and watching the "Changing of the Guard" is one of the must-do events in everyone's itinerary. The new set of guards arrive on the forecourt accompanied by a military band, which they take part in a ceremonial handing over of the keys.

Titian’s “Diana and Callisto”

to National Gallery This special exhibition celebrates the National Gallery's acquisition of Titian's "Diana and Callisto". Its companion painting "Diana and Actaeon" was purchased in 2009, and the pair have now been reunited in Room 1. "Diana and Callisto" shows the moment when Diana banishes Callisto after revealing her pregnancy.

See the London Olympic medals, at the British Museum

to British Museum The British Museum will be hosting a small exhibition showcasing all the medals that can be won at the London Olympics. Also on show will be medals from the 1908 and 1948 London Olympics. The display will tell the complete story of the medals from start to finish, from the mining of the metal to the creation of the designs, to the final casting at the Royal Mint.

Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics

to National Army Museum This explosive exhibition features some of the best covers and illustrations from 50 years of the "Commando" comic series. "Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics" will explore the history of the comic from its very first issue, through to its heroic subject matter and its enduring popularity.

Princess Diana’s dresses — Kensington Palace exhibition4 AprilKensington Palace will be showcasing a small exhibition of dresses worn by Diana, the Princess of Wales — some of which will be on display in the UK for the very first time. The dresses will be displayed alongside fashion illustrations and photographs, and will reflect some of the most memorable moments in Diana’s life.

David Shrigley: Brain Activity4 AprilDavid Shrigley is best known for his witty and wry observations on everyday life. He uses a deliberately crude graphic style alongside an insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships. This exhibition will be his first major show in London.

Gesamtkunstwerk: New art from Germany4 AprilThe Saatchi Gallery is hosting an exhibition of new art from Germany called “Gesamtkunstwerk”. It will include pieces by Dirk Bell, Matti Braun, Andre Butzer, Max Frisinger, Thomas Helbig, Volker Hueller, Thomas Kiesewetter, Josephine Meckseper, Kirstine Roepstorff, Julian Rosefeldt, Markus Selg and Thomas Zipp.

Weber, Rachmaninov and Brahms — Cadogan Hall4 AprilJoin conductor Yuki Miyagi, pianist Kemal Gekic, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall, as they perform a selection of classical works by Weber, Rachmaninov and Brahms.

“Long Day’s Journey Into Night”, with David Suchet4 AprilDavid Suchet will be starring in Eugene O’Neill’s great American play “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”. It tells the story of James Tyrone (Suchet), Mary and their sons, during a long hot summer’s day.

All New People4 April“All New People” tells the story of Charlie, who has retreated to Long Beach Island for the winter. With his life in a rut, his little hideaway escape plan is ruined a motley parade of misfits who turn up and darken the mood. What will a fireman, a beauty queen, and a Brit estate agent do cooped up in a beach house?

Lucian Freud’s Portraits4 AprilThis major new exhibition will focus on Lucian Freud’s portraits — a central theme throughout his career. It will be divided into broad themes from particular periods. For example, paintings of Freud’s lovers, close friends and family will be used to demonstrate the psychological drama and intensity of his work.

David Hockney: A Bigger Picture4 AprilThis major new exhibition by David Hockney will span fifty years of his career, picking out the pieces which demonstrate Hockney’s fascination with the depiction of landscape. The exhibition will also include some of his iPad drawings, and a series of films which were shot on 18 cameras.

Stephen Hawking: A 70th birthday celebration4 AprilThe Science Museum will be celebrating Professor Stephen Hawking’s 70th birthday with a small exhibition of objects and papers from his own archives. There will also be some specially recorded audio by Professor Hawking himself, and some photographs that span his life and career, many of them previously unseen.
