Changing the Guard, at Buckingham Palace

to Buckingham Palace Strolling down The Mall to Buckingham Palace and watching the "Changing of the Guard" is one of the must-do events in everyone's itinerary. The new set of guards arrive on the forecourt accompanied by a military band, which they take part in a ceremonial handing over of the keys.

Titian’s “Diana and Callisto”

to National Gallery This special exhibition celebrates the National Gallery's acquisition of Titian's "Diana and Callisto". Its companion painting "Diana and Actaeon" was purchased in 2009, and the pair have now been reunited in Room 1. "Diana and Callisto" shows the moment when Diana banishes Callisto after revealing her pregnancy.

See the London Olympic medals, at the British Museum

to British Museum The British Museum will be hosting a small exhibition showcasing all the medals that can be won at the London Olympics. Also on show will be medals from the 1908 and 1948 London Olympics. The display will tell the complete story of the medals from start to finish, from the mining of the metal to the creation of the designs, to the final casting at the Royal Mint.

Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics

to National Army Museum This explosive exhibition features some of the best covers and illustrations from 50 years of the "Commando" comic series. "Draw Your Weapons: The Art of Commando Comics" will explore the history of the comic from its very first issue, through to its heroic subject matter and its enduring popularity.

Walk in the footsteps of Samuel Johnson4 AprilFollow in the footsteps of legendary London wit Samuel Johnson and explore the courts and alleys off Fleet Street where he lived. The tour will include Gough Square, Temple Church, Temple Bar and Fleet Street itself.

A walk around Charles Dickens’ London4 AprilTake a stroll around Victorian London with this Charles Dickens walk. Starting at the Charles Dickens Museum, you will be led through the city in the company of an expert guide, stopping off at various landmarks to hear readings from his novels, and learnall about the locations that Dickens frequented and enjoyed.

Damien Hirst exhibition — Tate Modern4 AprilDamien Hirst first came to attention in the 1980s and has gone on to become one of the most influential artists of his generation. This exciting exhibition will bring together key works from his first twenty years, including many of his iconic sculptures, medicine cabinets and spot and spin paintings.

Turner Inspired: In the Light of Claude4 AprilJ W Turner was a huge admirer of the Italian artist Claude’s landscapes. Two of Turner’s most famous paintings were even left to the gallery on the proviso that they were hung between two of his pictures. This exhibition will showcase some other closely related works and includes oils, watercolours and sketchbooks.

Alighiero Boetti exhibition — Tate Modern4 AprilAlighiero Boetti was one of the most influential Italian artists of the 20th-century. As a key member of the Arte Povera group he sought radical new ways to use simple materials like stamps, pens and magazine covers. Later on he travelled to places like Ethiopia and Afghanistan and created some wonderful embroideries.

Jeremy Deller: Joy In People4 AprilAs a former Turner Prize winner, Jeremy Deller has become hugely influential in the world of contemporary art. This exhibition will survey the breadth of his career, and provide an overview of his work so far. It will feature almost all of his major works, including his installations, photographs, videos, posters and banners.

Alistair McGowan and Friends4 AprilTV impressionist Alistair McGowan will be performing for an eclectic night of comedy in aid of the Green Party. He will be joined by plenty of friends, including Scott Capurro, Ian Saville, Shelley Bridgman, Calen Harley, David Whitney, Abie Philbin Bownan’s Eco Jihad and Karen Bailey.

David Shrigley: Brain Activity4 AprilDavid Shrigley is best known for his witty and wry observations on everyday life. He uses a deliberately crude graphic style alongside an insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships. This exhibition will be his first major show in London.

Gesamtkunstwerk: New art from Germany4 AprilThe Saatchi Gallery is hosting an exhibition of new art from Germany called “Gesamtkunstwerk”. It will include pieces by Dirk Bell, Matti Braun, Andre Butzer, Max Frisinger, Thomas Helbig, Volker Hueller, Thomas Kiesewetter, Josephine Meckseper, Kirstine Roepstorff, Julian Rosefeldt, Markus Selg and Thomas Zipp.
