We don’t have any more guided tours, but how about these other events on 15 April in London?

Alighiero Boetti exhibition — Tate Modern15 AprilAlighiero Boetti was one of the most influential Italian artists of the 20th-century. As a key member of the Arte Povera group he sought radical new ways to use simple materials like stamps, pens and magazine covers. Later on he travelled to places like Ethiopia and Afghanistan and created some wonderful embroideries.

See the stars at Hampstead Observatory15 AprilHampstead Observatory is a small observatory with a six-inch refractor, housed inside a rotating dome, and it has one major advantage over its more famous brother in Greenwich — it allows the public to just turn up and see the stars for free. You don’t even have to book.

See the London Olympic medals, at the British Museum15 AprilThe British Museum will be hosting a small exhibition showcasing all the medals that can be won at the London Olympics. Also on show will be medals from the 1908 and 1948 London Olympics. The display will tell the complete story of the medals from start to finish, from the mining of the metal to the creation of the designs, to the final casting at the Royal Mint.

Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Yeomen of the Guard”15 AprilJohn Wilson will be conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra in a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Yeomen of the Guard” at the Royal Festival Hall.

“Animal Inside Out” — Natural History Museum15 AprilYou might remember Gunther von Hagens’ “Body Worlds” exhibition a few years back… “Animal Inside Out” is an animal version of that exhibit. It features more than 100 anatomical specimens from a tiny frog all the way up to an enormous 4-tonne elephant. The skins have been stripped away so you can see the intricate inner workings of everything from a hare and a goat, to a giraffe, octopus and ostrich.

“Misterman”, at the National Theatre15 AprilThomas Magill lives in Inishfree, a quaint little Irish town. As a fierce evangelist he wants to save this sinful place from itself. Dwain Flynn is a miserable drunk, and Mrs Cleary is a blasphemous flirt, but they aren’t listening. How far will Thomas go in his quest for salvation?

County Cricket — Middlesex v Surrey15 AprilIf you fancy catching a few innings at the home of cricket then get yourself down to Lord’s Cricket Ground for an LV County Championship game between Middlesex and Surrey.

“Picasso and Britain” exhibition15 April“Picasso and Britain” will explore the artist’s lifelong connections with this country. The exhibition will consist of 150 works charting Picasso’s rise in Britain, tracing the ways in which his work was exhibited and collected here during his lifetime. It will also examine the artist’s impact on 20th-century modernism.

Lucian Freud’s Portraits15 AprilThis major new exhibition will focus on Lucian Freud’s portraits — a central theme throughout his career. It will be divided into broad themes from particular periods. For example, paintings of Freud’s lovers, close friends and family will be used to demonstrate the psychological drama and intensity of his work.
