Buckingham Palace — Exclusive evening tour

to Buckingham Palace This Exclusive Evening Tour of Buckingham Palace offers the visitor a very special insight into the history and use of the State Rooms, and the works of art on display. The tour takes place in the company of an expert guide and includes a copy of the official guidebook and glass of champagne served in the Bow Room.

Captain Scott’s Antartic Expedition15 AprilCaptain Robert Scott’s expedition to Antarctica in 1910-1913 was one of the most famous expedition’s of all-time. This extraordinary exhibition commemorates the centenary by collecting together artefacts used by his team, alongside a life-size representation of Scott’s base-camp, which still survives in Antarctica.

“Dickens and London” exhibition, at the Museum of London15 AprilThe Museum of London will be marking the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth by putting on a major new exhibition, taking you on a journey through Victorian London to discover the city that inspired his writings. Paintings, photographs and the original manuscripts of ‘Bleak House’ and ‘David Copperfield’ will bring to life the author’s world.

Queen Elizabeth II, by Cecil Beaton15 AprilCecil Beaton photographed The Queen as she went from being a princess to a monarch and a mother. This exhibition will feature nearly 100 of his best portraits. Also included are extracts from Beaton’s own letters and diaries, which will reveal the intense planning and working practice of a royal sitting.

“Misterman”, at the National Theatre15 AprilThomas Magill lives in Inishfree, a quaint little Irish town. As a fierce evangelist he wants to save this sinful place from itself. Dwain Flynn is a miserable drunk, and Mrs Cleary is a blasphemous flirt, but they aren’t listening. How far will Thomas go in his quest for salvation?

Yayoi Kusama exhibition15 AprilYayoi Kusama is probably best-known for her repeating dot patterns. Since 1977 this intriguing artist has spent much of her life living in a psychiatric institution, and her work has been touched by obsession and a desire to escape from psychological trauma.

The Best of Rodgers and Hammerstein15 AprilJoin West End singers Mary Carewe, Ria Jones, Michael Dore and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for an evening of songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein, including favourites like “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair” and “Some Enchanted Evening”.

“She Stoops to Conquer”, at the National Theatre15 April“She Stoops To Conquer” tells the story of Hardcastle, who’s trying to introduce his eligable daughter to his old friend’s son. But his son is crippled with shyness when it comes to wooing the upper classes, and he is tricked into thinking his prospective father-in-law is an old innkeeper, and his daughter is a barmaid.

David Shrigley: Brain Activity15 AprilDavid Shrigley is best known for his witty and wry observations on everyday life. He uses a deliberately crude graphic style alongside an insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships. This exhibition will be his first major show in London.

“Animal Inside Out” — Natural History Museum15 AprilYou might remember Gunther von Hagens’ “Body Worlds” exhibition a few years back… “Animal Inside Out” is an animal version of that exhibit. It features more than 100 anatomical specimens from a tiny frog all the way up to an enormous 4-tonne elephant. The skins have been stripped away so you can see the intricate inner workings of everything from a hare and a goat, to a giraffe, octopus and ostrich.
