See the London Olympic medals, at the British Museum

to British Museum The British Museum will be hosting a small exhibition showcasing all the medals that can be won at the London Olympics. Also on show will be medals from the 1908 and 1948 London Olympics. The display will tell the complete story of the medals from start to finish, from the mining of the metal to the creation of the designs, to the final casting at the Royal Mint.

That’s all the sports events, but there are lots more outdoor events in London on 3 March including:

Tyne Daly in “Master Class” — about Maria Callas3 March“Master Class” tells the story of iconic opera singer Maria Callas. Tyne Daley (of “Cagney and Lacey” fame) takes the role of the legendary diva, whose turbulent love life and fiery temperament led to much self-sacrifice and heartache.

David Shrigley: Brain Activity3 MarchDavid Shrigley is best known for his witty and wry observations on everyday life. He uses a deliberately crude graphic style alongside an insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships. This exhibition will be his first major show in London.

“The Ladykillers”, at the Gielgud Theatre3 MarchThe classic Ealing comedy “The Ladykillers” is coming to the stage in a brand new adaption by Graham Linehan. Posing as a group of amateur musicians, a cunning gang of thieves rent a room in fiesty old Mrs Wilberforce’s house. Can she defeat the five big, burly men before they do the dastardly deed?

George Gershwin’s “Crazy For You”3 MarchGeorge Gershwin’s smash-hit musical “Crazy for You” is packed full of classic songs including “I Got Rhythm”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, “Embraceable You” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It”.

“Blood Brothers”, at the Phoenix Theatre3 March“Blood Brothers” has been packing them into the West End for two decades now. It tells the story of a single mum who is forced to give away one of her new-born twin sons after she can’t afford to keep him. Despite growing up on opposite side of the tracks their lives become hopelessly enmeshed, and ultimately end in tragedy.

Gesamtkunstwerk: New art from Germany3 MarchThe Saatchi Gallery is hosting an exhibition of new art from Germany called “Gesamtkunstwerk”. It will include pieces by Dirk Bell, Matti Braun, Andre Butzer, Max Frisinger, Thomas Helbig, Volker Hueller, Thomas Kiesewetter, Josephine Meckseper, Kirstine Roepstorff, Julian Rosefeldt, Markus Selg and Thomas Zipp.

“Dickens and London” exhibition, at the Museum of London3 MarchThe Museum of London will be marking the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth by putting on a major new exhibition, taking you on a journey through Victorian London to discover the city that inspired his writings. Paintings, photographs and the original manuscripts of ‘Bleak House’ and ‘David Copperfield’ will bring to life the author’s world.

“She Stoops to Conquer”, at the National Theatre3 March“She Stoops To Conquer” tells the story of Hardcastle, who’s trying to introduce his eligable daughter to his old friend’s son. But his son is crippled with shyness when it comes to wooing the upper classes, and he is tricked into thinking his prospective father-in-law is an old innkeeper, and his daughter is a barmaid.

“Migrations” exhibition — Tate Britain3 MarchCutting through 500 years of history, the exhibition will include works by Lely, Kneller, Mondrian, Bomberg and more. It was also explore the 16th and 17th-century Dutch and Flemish artists who came over in search of new patrons for their landscape and still-life work.
