Sloane Square is the commercial heart of Chelsea, sitting between King’s Road and Belgravia.

The square is bordered by big name department stores like Peter Jones, which has stood on the west side of the square since 1877. Upmarket boutiques dominate the streets to the left, and gave the young, wealthy residents an amusing nickname – Sloanes, or Sloane Rangers.
Sloane Square is named after the 18th-century physician and President of the Royal Society – Sir Hans Sloane – whose private collection of antiquities helped to found the British Museum.
